Teaching experience
Since December 2024, I have been tutoring with Greenhouse Learning, an agency based in Bristol that specialises in supporting students with Special Educational Needs. Until his exams in June, my primary client was an A Level student retaking his English Language GCSE. For 4 years before this, I was doing freelance private tutoring on and off throughout my degree, specialising in Politics and History A Level qualifications. As well as holding a certified TEFL Qualification and carrying out online TEFL tuition since April this year, I have volunteered to teach free English classes for refugees and asylum seekers in Bristol. This role required giving both whole group classes and individual follow-ups with specific students and required a patient, empathetic approach to help students excel even through a language barrier.
From October 2024 to April 2025, I was employed at St Brendan's Sixth Form College in Bristol as a Progress TutorCover Supervisor. My role included providing 1-1 support for struggling students, giving tutorials to full classes on a range of issues designed to prepare them for life after college, from financial literacy to knowing their rights at work and covering classes at short notice in any subject area when teachers were absent. This has given me a wealth of hands-on experience and an in-depth understanding of the support young people need to succeed, which enriches my qualities as a tutor.
