Hello, I am a US Imperial College student and tutored for 5 yrs in STEM fields up to uni level, English, SAT, ACT, and MCAT. I normally use Zoom and teach concepts on an as needed basis using the whiteboard.

I initially started tutoring local primary school students as a volunteer in secondary school, and first started paid tutoring in my first year at uni in 2017. I have since tutored both local students in person as well as virtual students across the US. Ages included 3rd grade and up to adults returning to uni, and their motivations ranged from passing a course to trying to achieve the highest marks. I am capable of tutoring maths up to calculus and statistics, physics, chemistry, biology, and biochemistry up to uni level. I have also tutored for the ACT and SAT standardized tests, helping students increase their scores by around 3 points and 100 points, respectively. I believe these skill are translatable into tutoring for A-levels or GCSEs. While in uni, I was also an official writing tutor on campus, helping students revise their papers whether it be for graduate school applications or research.
I typically start the sessions by asking questions about what the students situation is with the course, the material they struggle with, and their motive. Clarifying these have been essential to ensuring the students goals are met. Normally, the students have homework problems that they share on their screen, and I would explain the process thoroughly once using a problem or two and encourage the student to solve as much of the other problems as possible. I make much use of the whiteboard feature on Zoom to write out equations or outlines for when Im explaining new concepts. I also prepare powerpoint presentations when requested by the student.
