Teaching experience
I'm currently a Philosophy and Psychology undergraduate at Leeds University, and while I'm new to formal tutoring, I have plenty of experience explaining philosophical ideas through weekly seminars, peer study groups and helping coursemates work through arguments before essays and exams. This gives me a strong sense of where students get stuck and how to explain ideas clearly without oversimplifying. I'm looking to tutor students aged 16-18 studying towards A-level and GCSE if relevant. While I haven't yet taken a student through exams as a tutor, I sat these exams myself under AQA, so I know the syllabus question styles and mark scheme expectations firsthand, including what examiners look for at the 12- and 25-mark levels.
My approach is interactive rather than lecture-style.le I introduce a concept work through an example together, then ask questions to check real understanding rather than recall. I encourage students to push back and disagree with ideas since that's where genuine understanding takes root,t followed by structured practice on exam-style questions.
