Hi, I'm Joao, a Maths tutor with a BSc from the University of Aberdeen and a PGDE from the University of Edinburgh. I've taught 1000 lessons across IB, GCSE, A-Level and Scottish qualifications.

I've delivered over 2000 lessons and taught Maths in three schools, earning consistently high praise from students and parents. My passion for teaching stems from my desire to make Mathematics accessible to everyone. Whether you're preparing for exams or simply looking to boost your confidence in Maths, I aim to create a supportive, engaging and inclusive learning environment tailored to your individual needs. In addition to my teaching experience, I've been involved in leadership and mentoring roles such as coordinating Aberdeen University's Nightline Association, where I further developed my communication and problem-solving skills. My goal is to inspire students not only to succeed academically but also to develop a genuine love for Mathematics.

Just like building a house, Maths requires a solid foundation; without it, future concepts become difficult to grasp. That's why I tailor each lesson to ensure that any gaps in your understanding are addressed before moving on to more complex topics. Math is a highly structured subject where each new concept connects to the previous one. Often, when students struggle with a particular topic, it's because of a misunderstanding of something they've learned earlier.

I take the time to identify these weak points, ensuring that you have a strong base to build upon. I'm never hesitant to revisit previous material during our lessons to make sure everything clicks before advancing. I also believe in fostering a safe, supportive environment where you can feel comfortable asking any question, no matter how small or trivial it may seem. Mistakes are part of the learning process, especially in Maths, and I encourage open dialogue and exploration. My goal is to help you not only succeed in Mathematics but also build confidence in your abilities, creating a positive and enjoyable learning experience.
