DRUM TEACHER, HOT HOUSE MUSIC, DERBY, 2013-2015
Whilst completing my A Level studies, I taught part-time at Weston on Trent C of E Primary School, this is where I first began to hone my teaching skills. I created my own syllabus focusing on the foundations and principles of drumming and utilised creative approaches to mentoring students of different ages, which ranged from 5-11.
WORKSHOP MENTOR, NATIONAL YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA, 2015-2019
During my time with NYJO, I spent a lot of time travelling around the UK and Europe visiting youth bands and secondary schools, leading group workshops and orchestrating performances very quickly. I found this to be a welcomed learning curve for my teaching skills as it taught me to work efficiently to a strict time frame and to improvise in different situations when needed.
